As many of you know, I enjoy using and often recommend xylitol as a sweetener. If you are concerned with corn allergies or inflamation keep in mind that some of the xylitol natural sweeteners on the market can be corn derived. To avoid this I only buy birch-based xylitiol (I love to make berry sorbet with it!).
Xylitol is an all natural sugar free sweetener that has become more and more popular because it’s natural, safe for diabetics, and it helps prevent cavities. However, you have a choice when you are choosing your Xylitol or shopping for Xylitol products. Over 90% of the Xylitol used in the United States comes from corn. Furthermore, much of that is imported from China. Right now I am using Zapp, which is wonderful birch-based Xylitol brand!
